Police are investigating a vehicle arson in the township's Herbertsville section.
According to Brick Police Sgt. Keith Reinhard, a resident of Maidenstone Drive reported to police that in the early morning hours of Monday, Jan. 7 he heard a loud bang outside of his residence. When he went outside, the resident found his two vehicles, which were parked in his driveway, on fire.
The Herbertsville Fire Company put out the blaze, and police also responded to the scene. No one was injured, Reinhard said.
Police were able to obtain video surveillance from a neighbor which, according to Reinhard, revealed two subjects exiting a light colored four door vehicle. The people then poured some type of an accelerant on or near the vehicles and ignited them.
The Brick Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the two people responsible for the vehicle fires. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Detective Gregory Mullarkey at 732-262-1120.
I will be the first to admit that not too many in my neighborhood know each other personally. Why? Everyone is so absorbed in their own worlds and lives that they really haven't thought about crime...although a "hotspot" is minutes away by car. Until people start waking up, crime will just grow. We can't keep blaming the police for crime and EMS/FD for nor responding faster...not unless you want taxes to go REALLY high, right? Get neighborhood watches going! I did.
In other states they pay less, and get less, we pay more and get less. How about we all show up to a council meeting or Freeholder meeting instead and out pressure to stop the waste and gives us more cops with the savings or less of a bill. How about we all support the cops and put pressure on Democrat judges who tie their hands and then we can all stay home at night with our families where we belong. Not too interested in being NJ's Neighborhood Vigilante AKA Zimmerman test case.
Hey, we all pay taxes...and things and always be more expensive and get less. We're in NJ. I came from an area where we were paying twice as much taxes and getting even less than here. Those are the breaks of living in New Jersey. That's why people move away. As for the neighborhood watches, I think some people don't understand the concept...like what happened with Zimmerman. Neighborhood watches are to run on strict codes. It's supposed to be 1) Observe any suspicious activity and 2) Report suspicious activity to police. One is not supposed to confront any suspicious person(s) and should not be armed with guns of all things! Criminal activity thrives on privacy and people not around and not caring. Criminals do not like company, an audience, and do not like to be watched. Simple as that. No guns needed.
I pay for polic protection. We had that here once in the late 90's Remove the cameras from the police cars and push these guys to get back to work. I care not about steping on a few toes or the feelings of minorities. Just clean up things and become an intimidating force like other towns are.
What don't you see here. You have no place at the table then, your opinions should be deleted and you be silent. If you fail to vote then you are even more of a lamb lead to slaughter.
Put pressure on people, then you become a special interest group like battered women and MADD. These laws were all changed in thoer favor because they were organized and got the politicians attention.
.brick would be a beautiful town
I pride myself on being religious and politically neutral. Do you really think that you are the first one to be upset at my personal stand? No, but you know what? I pay ALL my taxes, I obey the laws, and I have respect for our national symbol. I'm no flag burner or protestor. I simply follow for example what is stated in Matthew 11:17 by paying back Caesar's things to Caesar (taxes and laws) and in John 17:16 by being no part of this world (politically) just like the way Jesus was politically neutral. Why shouldn't I have a say in the topic of the article? We were talking about crime in our town, right?
You are a representitive of who volunteers, that is for sure. We the people with exception of Lew vote for these people to look after certain affairs for the greater good of the people. Lew is happy to just let them take care of themselves and they be told where to stand. I would implore any young people not to follow Lews example. Things will improve here oncethese bungalows are crushed and things rebuilt to todays codes and standards. It might even bring in a higher class of people perhaps. I do agree that the back door lakewood deal the men in black are giving us, it is a major problem. Perhaps we could ask for a little zoning and code enforcement or maybe just tip our hats to our masters as would do Lew, and say thank you for dumping on me as I am helpless in your power.
Just save it. I'm not expecting anyone else to side on this site. It's not a popular view and takes more courage than just doing someone everyone else is doing. You, are not going to change me with your childish taunting. We're done here...
