Toms River Man Sliced in Face at Seaside Heights Bar

Incident was 2:30 a.m. Saturday

A 36 year-old Toms River man was sliced in his face with a knife at a Seaside Heights bar early Saturday, police said.

Seaside Heights Police Det. Steve Korman said few details were available as police continue to investigate and interview witnesses to an aggravated assault in Bar Riggers, 2:30 a.m. June 16.

“We’re trying to piece things together,” Korman said. “We’re very active on the investigation.”

The Toms River resident was attacked with a knife and suffered lacerations to his face, Korman said. The man was treated at Community Medical Center and released.

No suspects in the knife incident have been apprehended.

However, police made an unrelated arrest after they arrived at the bar, started to investigate, and a bar patron allegedly became disorderly, Korman said.

“The individual was uncooperative and wouldn’t back away,” Korman said.

Shannon Johnson, whose address was not released, was charged with disorderly conduct and obstruction.

Police continue to search for a suspect in the knife incident.

Seaside Heights Ptl. Shawn Heckler and Det. Luigi Violante are investigating.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Seaside Heights Police Detective Bureau at 732-793-1800.

Something doesn't make sense, if seaside gets shady in the winter all those houses that people rent out would get broken into and stuff stolen or know one would own the houses

Seaside is just Coney Island South. The last decent place that has a Boardwalk is Ocean City....and you can't buy a drink there. It family oriented, not scum oriented.

The liquor lobbyists and bar owners have fought off earlier closings in Point Beach and drinking rules Sleazeside, too.
