Police and fire units dealt with a vehicle fire just south of the intersection of Hooper Avenue and College Drive near the Brick border Friday, police said.
Carol Laconte of New Castle Drive in Toms River was traveling North on Hooper Avenue in a 2003 Kia Sedona when her vehicle began to smoke. She immediately puled to the side of the road.
Members of the Silverton Fire Company responded to extinguish the fire. It appears to have been electrical in nature. The incident is being investigated by Toms River Patrolman Austin Pelka and the Tom River Bureau of Fire Prevention.
