Toms River Doctor Charged With Operating Without a License

State detectives executed a search warrant Friday morning at the Main Street office of a Toms River doctor who is accused of practicing medicine without a license.

Detectives with the state's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit were investigating Dr. Ranvir Ahlawat, 49, of Toms River, who was allegedly practicing medicine at the Integrated Medical Care Center at 803 Main Street. The building is also known as the Doctor’s Care General Practice.

Ahlawat was the owner of the facility, along with his wife, Carmen Perez, an advanced nurse practitioner, but Ahlawat's license to practice medicine was revoked in 2010, state Attorney General John J. Hoffman said in a prepared statement on Friday.

With his license revoked, Ahlawat was forbidden from providing professional medical opinions or representing himself as being eligible to practice medicine.  He was also prohibited from occupying, sharing or using office space with any health care licensee. But the MFCU determined that Ahlawat allegedly continued to use the offices of Integrated Medical Care Center even after his license was revoked, and allegedly continued to collaborate with Perez with respect to patient care.

The investigation remains ongoing, Hoffman's statement said.

Ahlawat faces a third degree charge of practicing medicine without a license, which is punishable by up to five years in state prison and a criminal fine of up to $15,000.

@grace - I believe this fraud doctor was one of the chief needs for Obamacare - anything that takes Gilmore/Christie protected sandrats out of society is a gift from the gods

I don't think his race should have anything to do with this conversation...
