Tips Lead Brick PD to Arrest Township Man for Attempted Burglary

Suspect being held in the Ocean County Jail

Brick Police have arrested a township man they say attempted to burglarize a home on Emberly Road July 14.

Shaun A. Paine, 33, of Arbutus Avenue, was arrested after police released surveillance video to the public of the attempted burglary. As officers were on their way to the scene with the burglary in progress, a report came in that the suspect had ran off, but police later recovered video from a home surveillance system that captured images of the would-be burglar and a car he was getting into.

"The Brick Township Police Department would like to thank the public for providing information based on viewing the video and still pictures which were posted in the press and on social media," Sgt. Henry Drew said in a statement Friday. "Information provided by our residents was crucial in locating this subject and making the arrest. This is another great example of just how important the relationship between the residents of Brick and the Brick Township Police Department is."

Paine was charged with one count of burglary. Bail was set by Municipal Court Judge Robert Lepore at $25,000 cash.

Paine was lodged in the Ocean County Jail.
