Testing On Lovelandtown Bridge In Point Boro Is Completed

The Bridge Avenue span was re-opened this morning

The Lovelandtown Bridge on Bridge Avenue in Point Boro was re-opened Thursday morning after testing was completed.

Timothy Greeley, a state Department of Transportation spokesman, said the testing was completed successfully and no further closures are planned.

The bridge, which spans the Point Pleasant Canal, was closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday night to around 6 a.m. on Thursday for operations testing on the vertical lift bridge.

The Point Pleasant Canal is a part of the Intracoastal Waterway, a protected 1,500-mile inland water highway that runs from Maine to Florida. The U.S. Coast Guard requires the DOT to open the bridge on-demand for any approaching vessel.
