T.R. North Shelter Full; County Residents Being Directed Elsewhere

Non-Toms River residents can proceed to Pinelands Regional shelter

A regional hurricane shelter at Toms River High School North's Pine Belt Arena is now at capacity Sunday night.

The Pine Belt Arena has more than 250 evacuees using the site on Old Freehold Road in Toms River.

Evacuees from outside Toms River can still go to Pinelands Regional High School, 590 Nugentown Road, Little Egg Harbor, another regional Hurricane Sandy shelter in Ocean County.

The "Powers to Be" in Ocean Count should hang their heads in disgrace that they have to send people from the exterme north of Ocean County all the way to the extreme southern part to seek shelter. SHAME!!

No kidding. We r in brick and haven't gotten orders to evac, but if we did have to seek shelter we r screwed.

By orders, I meant that it has not been suggested by oem that my section of the town is at risk of the storm surge.

How many people can they safely hold. Remember bathrooms, food, personal space, worker to resident ratio. Give them a break. TR residents only, others should be south anyway except for Brick people who have their own shelters.

@WMS826- per the article, there are no shelters in brick. Brick residents have no choice but to head south.
