Suspected Lacey Kohl's Thief Faces More Charges in Brick

A woman accused of stealing a Kitchen Aid mixer appliance from the Lacey Township Kohl's store, then attempting to return the item at the Brick Kohl's store, is facing additional charges while her partner is facing robbery and assault charges after a separate incident in Brick.

Lacey police earlier this week issued an arrest warrant for Danielle E. Kwityn, 31, of Island Heights. She was ultimately arrested Tuesday in Brick after officers were called – again – to the Brick Kohl's store for a shoplifting report.

According to Sgt. Henry Drew, Officers Jennifer Sutton and William Vendrell along with Detectives Brian Lash and Jason Shepherd went to the store after the call came in, but saw a suspect vehicle leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed. They pursued the vehicle and eventually stopped it on Cedar Bridge Avenue.

Kwityn, who was driving, was taken into custody along with David M. Switalski, 32, of Island Heights, without incident, Drew said.

Patrolman Keith Donnelly then spoke to a member of the Kohl’s Loss Prevention staff who said that he observed Switalski enter the store, walk directly to the area of the kitchen mixers where he picked up a Kitchen Aid Mixer valued at $450, said Drew.

Switalski, Kohl's staff told police, then headed straight for the exit doors and left the store. Once outside the store Switalski was approached by the Loss Prevention Manager, and a brief scuffle ensued during which Switalski threw the mixer to the ground, pushed the Loss Prevention Manger to the ground, ran to the vehicle and fled the scene, according to Drew.

Brick Police EMS responded to the scene to treat the loss prevention manager for lacerations to his wrist, Drew said.

Switalski was charged with robbery and bail was set at $50,000 cash by Municipal Court Judge Robert Lepore.

Kwityn was charged with robbery, attempting to elude police in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to maintain lane, improper passing, improper parking, and failure to use a turn signal.  Bail was set by Lepore at $50,000 cash.

Kwityn has also been charged in the earlier Lacey shoplifting incident.

Switalski and Kwityn were transported to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of bail.
