Resident Indicted on Gun, Resisting Arrest Charges

Ocean County grand juries hand up indictments

A Brick man is accused of possessing an unlicensed gun as well as cocaine, according to an indictment handed up last week by an Ocean County grand jury.

Andrew Applewhite of Sawmill Road was arrested in the township on April 24 and accused of carrying a .38-caliber revolver without a permit. Police also said Applewhite had cocaine on him when arrested.

The grand jury upheld a third charge, resisting arrest, after police accused him of trying to prevent Sgt. John Talty and Patrolman Larry Petrola from completing their arrest by "using or threatening to use physical force or violence."
