Police Searching for Suspect in Stabbing at Mansion Nightclub

Male suffered puncture wounds to abdomen.

A person was treated and released from Ocean Medical Center early this morning following an alleged stabbing at the Mansion Nightclub, Brick police said.

The alleged attacker, who escaped, is described as a heavy set, Hispanic male with long hair, according to Brick Police Sergeant Ed Waldhelm.

The incident occurred inside the nightclub, which is located in the Brick Plaza shopping center, at approximately 2 a.m., police said.

The victim suffered non-life threatening puncture wounds to the abdomen, said Waldhelm.

Brick Police Detective Thomas Cooney is the investigating officer.

One assailant, one person stabbed with "non-life threatening puncture wounds" but one assailant with an assault weapon with a thirty round magazine and 20 kids dead plus 7 adults. I am sorry but regulating guns and banning semi-automatic assault weapons, and large capacity magazines is reasonable and not the same as banning knives. Will gun advocates please stop comparing the two.

I’m Hispanic so I must be an illegal immigrant from Cuba or Mexico. I’m Puerto Rican so I must have friends in a gang. I’m Hispanic so when there’s an increase in poverty, crime, and teen pregnancies, I must have something to do with it. All of the above are stereotypes, they are characteristics that exist in all races. It is not centered on on demographic. Educate yourself MR/MS AJV!

@ coolerhead. You really think banning guns will stop the violence? Tell me, how has that worked for cocaine and heroin? They are called criminals because they don't obey the law, period.

More of Bricks finest citizens. What has happened to this town? Used to be a great place to live and raise a family. Just like most other places now.

Where did it say he was from Brick?

Close it down? Why? There isn't anything going on there. Is it really any different? Same problems going on at all the other bars,

Read my post. I did not say ban all guns. I said regulate guns, and ban assault weapons and large capacity magazines. We cannot even discuss the regulating of guns without someone immediately saying that banning guns will not stop violence. Of course banning guns will not stop violence. However, refusing to consider regulating the sale of guns that were designed, not for hunting, or even for personal protection, but for the killing of a large number of people is not reasonable. We regulate automatic weapons, and they are rarely used in crimes because they are not available. They are not available because they are illegal nationwide, and therefore not available to even criminals. In states that large capacity magazines are illegal, people can still obtain them, by traveling to states like Virginia. If we had a nationwide ban, they would not be available. They are just too dangerous to be legal.

Where does it say the suspect or even the victim is from Brick?! The only thing about Brick in the story is the location of the Mansion (that's aside from a brick that apparently struck your head too perhaps)....

How many incidents occur there? I haven't read about many at all in the Patch to the best of my knowledge, since Dan started reporting on local news.... Would you rather another CVS, Rite-Aid or Walgreens...ughhh

How soon can we expect the National Cutlery Association to call for knife wielding guards in all nightclubs?
Clayton December 23, 2012 at 10:18 PM
According to some... That is happening in a lot of the bars/places in the beach boardwalk towns...They say "NO" who would want their bars and clubs to close down when they are making so much money. A lot is hidden and the reason why the world has so many problems.

To the best of my knowledge this is the first incident we've reported on there. The last incident that made the news, if I recall, was a shooting which took place a few years before Patch started. Despite being a big fan of the local nightlife scene (as I've written about in the occasional column here) I've never gone to the Mansion, so I can't comment on the atmosphere/crowd, or if there is any trouble on a regular basis.

The comments in this story have been shut down because not all of the facts about this case, and where it occurred, have been released yet.
