Police Release Photo of Bank Robbery Suspect

Suspect fled in the direction of Route 70, cops say

Police have released a still photo from surveillance footage taken at the TD Bank branch on Cedar Bridge Avenue Tuesday, showing a man they say passed a note to a teller demanding money.

The robbery occurred at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday, according to Capt. John Rein, while bank staff and customers were present at the branch, located at 1079 Cedar Bridge Avenue. The man did not brandish a weapon during the heist, and no one was injured, police say. After the note was passed to a teller, the suspect was handed an unknown amount of cash that he stuffed into a plastic shopping bag, according to Rein. He then fled on foot westward down Cedar Bridge Avenue toward Route 70.

The subject was described as a heavy set white male, between 50 and 60 years of age, wearing gray sweat pants, a black sweat shirt and a yellow baseball cap.

Officers arrived within minutes of the robbery, Rein said, and were assisted by the Ocean County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit in conducting a search for the suspect. As of late Tuesday night, the suspect still had not been located.

Police are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call the Brick Township Police Department Investigations Division at 732-262-1120 or the Red Bank office of the FBI at 732-741-0006.
