Point Pleasant Man Struck By Car Near Marshall Drive
Police did not immediately identify pedestrian.
Members of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Support Team and Criminalistics Investigations Unit are investigating an accident that occurred yesterday morning on State Highway 88 near Marshall Drive.
John R. Mulhall, 91, from Point Pleasant, was driving a 1995 Ford Taurus eastbound on Highway 88 around 10:14 a.m. yesterday, when the vehicle struck a 70-year-old male pedestrian, also from Point Pleasant, who was crossing the highway from the north side of the roadway.
The pedestrian - who was not immediately identified - sustained multiple serious injuries and was treated at the scene by the Boro First Aid Squad and MONOC paramedics, according to a prepared statement from Capt. Richard Larsen.

The man was subsequently flown to Jersey Shore University Hospital.
