After Brick Arrest, Point Beach Women Face Slew of Drug Charges

Grand jury hands up indictments against township residents

Two Point Pleasant Beach women face numerous drug charges in connection with their arrests in June in Brick.

An Ocean County grand jury voted Thursday to indict Samara Katz and Amelia Alexander, both of Atlantic Avenue, on charges of possessing a variety of street and prescription drugs when they were arrested in Brick on June 16.

Katz faces seven third-degree counts of possession for allegedly having the following drugs in her possession: cocaine, oxycodone, zolpidem, phenobarbital,diazepam, morphine and suboxone.

Alexander faces two third-degree counts for allegedly possessing cocaine and oxycodone.

Both women were released on summonses.

A Brick man also was indicted in a separate case Wednesday on a charge of attempting to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud.

Eric R. Siemonsma of Hulse Avenue on April 12 attempted to acquire roxicodone by "misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception or subterfuge," the indictment states.

Siemonsma posted bail and was released from jail on May 3.

Indictments also included:

  • Travis A. Cavanaugh, of Neptune, who was indicted Wednesday by an Ocean County grand jury on a second-degree charge for allegedly attempting to flee from a state trooper on June 2. Cavanaugh faces $35,000 bail, no 10 percent option.
  • Alfred Jones, of Ocean Grove, who is accused of stealing more than $500 worth of digital picture frames from the Brick K-Mart store on March 16, an indictment states. He was released on a summons.
  • Blair L. Spaeth, of Route 70 in Brick, who is charged with having less than a half-ounce of heroin in his possession when arrested June 27 in Toms River, the indictment states. He faces two third-degree charges.
