UPDATE: OceanFirst Bank Branch on Adamston Road Robbed, Nobody Hurt

Heavy police presence in the area

A bank robbery occurred at the OceanFirst Bank branch on Adamston Road, Brick police said.

The robbery was reported to police by an alarm company at approximately 3:45 p.m., Sgt. Keith Reinhard said.

At that time, an unknown suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money. The note indicated that the suspect had a handgun, but no weapons were shown, said Reinhard.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 foot tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, dark hooded coat, a light grey shirt, blue jeans and dark sneakers.

The suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, entered a green vehicle, possibly a Mazda, and left the area.

"Fortunately no one was injured as a result of this robbery," said Reinhard.

No arrests have been made.

The incident is being investigated by Detectives Eric Olsen and Thomas Cooney from the Brick Township Police Department Investigations Unit along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Red Bank Office.
