Ocean County Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Woman

Christopher Rios, 21, of Jackson is facing aggravated sexual assault and burglary charges

A 21-year-old Ocean County man was charged with sexually assaulting a 19-year-old woman this week, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

Christopher Rios, 21, of Jackson is facing aggravated sexual assault and burglary charges for allegedly entering the victim’s residence in Plumsted, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato and Plumsted Township Police Chief Matthew Petrecca announced.

Bail was set at $250,000 with no 10 percent option. Rios is lodged in the Ocean County Jail in default of bail.

The arrest stems from a 911 call to Plumsted Township Police Department on Aug. 20 when, at approximately 4 a.m., the victim reported Rios allegedly entered her residence through a basement window, entered her bedroom while she was sleeping and sexually assaulted her.

Plumsted Township Police Det. Brant Uricks and Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Det. Melisa Matthews conducted the investigation and made the subsequent arrest, with assistance from Det. John Rodriguez of the Jackson Police Department.
