No New Charges in Brick Armed Home Invasion; Homeowner Gagged as Child Fled

Police looking for public to report suspicious items

An armed home invasion where a homeowner was bound and gagged with children in the home remains under investigation, Brick Police confirmed.

The Montclair Drive incident occurred Dec. 5, where a 10 year-old child heard men trying to force their way into the home. The child fled to a neighbors to get help. When officers arrived they found the homeowner bound and gagged and the home ransacked. Another child was in the home, and no one was injured, said Brick Police Capt. Robert Mazza.

In the manhunt that ensued, police discovered a Neptune man lying in a backyard on Main Avenue. Ishawn David Redd was arrested and charged for defiant trespass and hindering apprehension. Police said the trespass appears unrelated.

Mazza said Wednesday that the incident is still under investigation. No additional arrests have been made, nor charges filed directly relating to the incident.

The suspects were described as two black men, dressed in black, with scarves covering their faces. One man had a long-barrel gun.

Police are asking residents to continue to be on the lookout for suspicious activity or items of interest, Mazza said. Proceeds from the robbery may have winded up in nearby areas as the suspects fled or hid the items, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Brick Twp. Police Detective Bureau, Det. Thomas Cooney or Det. Greg Mullarkey, at 732-262-1120.
