Lightning Strike Damages Herbertsville Home

Storm rolled through town just after 5 p.m.

A powerful, but fast-moving, thunderstorm that rolled through Brick just after 5 p.m. resulted in an Alaska Avenue home being damaged.

Fire companies from Herbertsville and Laurelton, as well the township police department, responded to the home, which was struck by lightning.

There was a smoke condition, but no fire at the home, according to Brick Police Sgt. Art Rivaldo. Rivaldo said that lightning hit the roof of the home, causing a hole to form. Light also struck a shed in the backyard. Most of the damage caused by the strike was in the home's electrical system, he said.
