A 21-year-old man convicted of killing a Lakewood police officer has been sentenced to life in prison in a separate case.
Jahmell Crockam, 21, of Lakewood was sentenced Friday for the Oct. 15, 2010 murder of Justin Williams, 20, in Lakewood.
Judge Francis R. Hodgson, Jr. imposed a mandatory term of life imprisonment without parole, noting Crockam was previously found guilty of murdering Lakewood Police Officer Christopher Matlosz, Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato today announced.
The sentence comes as a result of Crockam’s guilty plea in the 2010 murder of Justin Williams. In that case, Williams was shot 5 times in the head and once in the chest with a .22 caliber handgun.
Crockam was found guilty by a jury on Feb. 16, 2012, for the Jan. 14, 2011 murder of Matlosz.
In that trial Crockam was found guilty of killing a police officer in the performance of his duties and subsequently sentenced by Judge Wendel E. Daniels to serve a mandatory term of life imprisonment without parole.
