Indictments Handed Up in Mother's Day Robbery, Stabbing Case

Two indicted on robbery charges in incident where Bayville man was killed

Two Ocean County residents have been indicted for the robbery of a Brick Township man and his son on May 8.

The alleged robbery, which occurred on Marilyn Drive in the township's Bay Harbor section, resulted in the of Adam Ferguson, a 31-year-old Berkeley Township man who police say participated in the robbery.

Charges of robbery and burglary were returned in a grand jury indictment against Mark A. Dillard, 30, of Dover Road, South Toms River, and Nicole Lynn Starick, 28, of East Bayview Avenue, Ocean Gate.

They are accused of breaking into the home of Joseph P. Bellisano Sr. and robbing him and his son, Joseph Bellisano Jr., 27, on the evening of Mother's Day, along with Ferguson.

During the break-in, the younger Bellisano stabbed and killed Ferguson, according to Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Dillard was arrested shortly after the alleged robbery; Starick was arrested at her home the following afternoon.

Both Dillard and Starick are still being lodged in the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, unable to raise $200,000 bail.

Police also arrested the younger Bellisano following the incident. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, a prescription painkiller. He was not charged in the stabbing death of Ferguson.

The grand jury also indicted:

  • Jeffrey C. Woodworth, 25, of Prospect Drive, Brick, and Emily A. Aiello, 20, of Roe Avenue, Point Pleasant, for having heroin April 3 in Brick.
  • Stephanie A. Knudsen, 28, of Roosevelt Drive, Brick, for stealing four business checks from Alan the Original Florist in Brick on March 10 and forging them.
