Indictment Handed up in Decade-Old Rape, Kidnapping of Teen
Pennsylvania man is facing charges
A Pennsylvania man is facing charges he kidnapped and raped a 15-year-old girl more than a decade ago in Lakewood.
Luis G. Vargas, 29, of Overlook Drive, Labelle, Pa., is accused of abducting the girl on Feb. 5, 2001 in Lakewood, raping and assaulting her while armed with a knife, and endangering her welfare. The charges were included in an indictment voted against him by an Ocean County grand jury last week.
Vargas is currently an inmate at Pennsylvania's State Correctional Institute, Fayette, Pa. His bail on the new charge is $500,000 with the condition that he not contact the victim.
