Ocean County Woman, 89, Killed In Crash

Ann Masterson, 86, of Falmouth Street, Holiday City was pronounced dead at Community Medical Center in Toms River

An 89-year-old woman was killed in a crash in Berkeley Township Saturday, police said.

At 5:15 p.m., police responded to the intersection of Jamaica Blvd. and Le Lementin Drive for a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles.

Investigation revealed a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup truck, driven by Shannon Lauria, age 39, of Fort De France Avenue, Holiday City, was driving south on Le Lementin Drive and failed to stop at a stop sign, police said.

The truck collided with the passenger side of a 2002 Buick Century driving west on Jamaica Boulevard, driven by Ann Masterson, 86, of Falmouth Street, Holiday City. The impact of the crash caused both vehicles to come to final rest in the front yard of 544 Jamaica Boulevard, where the pickup truck turned over on it's side, police said.

Holiday City First Aid Squad and MONOC Paramedics, transported Masterson to Community Medical Center, Toms River, where she was pronounced dead at 5:52 p.m. Shannon Lauria was not injured.

Berkeley Twp. Police Department Traffic Safety Officer, Michael O’Connor, issued Lauria, summonses, for reckless driving and failure to stop or yield at a stop sign.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Ocean County Sheriff’s Department CIU, Lacey Twp. Police Department Traffic Safety Unit and Manitou Park Fire Department also assisted.
