Herbertsville Firefighters Douse Shed Blaze

No injuries reported in evening fire

A shed fire at a home located on South Lake Drive brought a response from the Herbertsville Fire Company, authorities said.

Fire Marshall Kevin Batzel said a homeowner noticed smoke in his backyard at around 9:45 p.m. Friday, then saw fire had engulfed a shed in the rear of his property.

"Herbertsville Fire Company Station 24 responded, and saw a shed approximately 15 feet by 25 feet in size on fire," said Batzel. "The shed was virtually destroyed, and the nearby home sustained minor heat damage, but no injuries were reported."

Batzel explained that the fire is currently being examined as a possible electrical fire, given that there appeared to be several electric appliances wired in the shed.

The Herbertsville crew was led on scene by Assistant Chief Art Bloomer, and a follow-up investigation is currently being conducted by the township's Bureau of Fire Safety, Batzel said.
