Three local merchants, in partnership with the Brick Township Bureau of Fire Safety, will distribute free batteries Saturday.
The battery givwaway coincides with the start of daylight savings time, where clocks will "spring ahead" at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. The day is commonly used as a reminder to change home smoke detector batteries.
