Early Morning Car Fire Suspicious, Police Say

Two vehicles damaged by fire in Herbertsville section

An early morning fire that damaged two vehicles in the Herbertsville section is being investigated as suspicious, police said Friday.

Police got the call at 1:58 a.m. Friday, according to Capt. John Rein. When Ptl. Justin Delaney, Kris Demarco, and Officer Mark Alexander arrived at the area of 1072 Sawmill Road, they found a Jeep Grand Cherokee fully engulfed. A Nissan Altima that was parked near the Jeep also suffered fire damage, Rein said.

Police and fire authorities are investigating the fire as suspicious because the Jeep had been disabled and not driven recently, and its owner reported she had one other vehicle that had been damaged by fire last year when she lived at a different location.
