Drum Point Road Reopened After Car, Bicycle Collide

Teenager on bicycle moved into car's path, police say

Traffic was diverted for about 90 minutes on Drum Point Road between Brick Boulevard and Hooper Avenue following an accident between a car and a bicycle at 3:04 p.m. Thursday, Brick Police Capt. John Rein said.

According to Rein, a 13-year-old boy from Brick suffered facial and head injuries after being struck by a 2000 Hyundai Elantra driven by Concetta Deluca, 67, of Brick.

Both Deluca and the boy were traveling westbound on Drum Point Road when the boy suddenly moved from the shoulder into the roadway, in the car's path, Rein said. He was treated on scene by Brick Police EMS and MONOC paramedics and transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
