Drugs, Cash, Car Recovered in Raid; Brick Residents Arrested

Authorities raided houses in Brick, Lakewood as part of drug investigation

An investigation into drug activity culminated in raids on houses in Brick and Lakewood, ultimately resulting in the arrest of three people, including two Brick residents.

Detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Special Operations Group along with members of the Brick Township Police Department executed a search warrant at 711 Eastern Lane Jan. 25, according to a statement from Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford.

A home at 1416 Brookfield Drive in Lakewood, as well as a 2002 Mercedes-Benz car were also searched, authorities said.

As a result of the search warrants police seized approximately one half ounce of cocaine, a quantity of marijuana, a .357 caliber handgun and approximately $27,000 in cash. Police also seized assorted drug paraphernalia associated with drug distribution including a digital scale and packaging materials.

Steven Stallworth, 29, of Eastern Lane in Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute; possession of cocaine; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of a firearm during the commission of a drug offense.

Stallworth's bail was set at $150,000 by Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson. Jail records showed he was no longer being lodged in the Ocean County Jail.

Karissa Hughes, 24, also of Eastern Lane in Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine. Hughes was released on a summons.

Mathew Davis, 20, of Brookfield Drive in Lakewood, was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute; possession of cocaine; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a drug offense.

Davis was being lodged at the Ocean County Jail on $100,000 cash bail set by Hodgson.

The Brick Township Police SERT Team, the Lakewood Police ESU, the Ocean County Sheriffs Department K-9 Unit and the Ocean County Sheriffs Department Criminal Investigations Unit assisted in the investigation and the execution of the search warrants.
