Driver Ticketed After Crashing Into Car Wash, Beer Store

Little damage to Herbertsville Road business, however

A township man received two summonses after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a Herbertsville Road business Monday afternoon.

Javier Leyvu-Ponce, 40, was charged with careless driving and being an unlicensed driver after he lost control of a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer SUV while navigating a curve in the road and crashed into Buchanan's, a car wash and drive-through beer store, said Brick Police Sgt. David Bedrosian.

Bedrosian said Leyvu-Ponce was travelling too fast for the conditions just after 5 p.m. Monday and, as he approached a curve in Herbertsville Road near 18th Avenue, lost control of the SUV. The vehicle first hit a curb, then a utility pole before making contact with the building, Bedrosian said.
