UPDATE: Bridge Back Down and Trains Running South of Manasquan

Cause under investigation

NJ Transit trains are again running south of the Manasquan station now that the bridge is back down.

The repair was made at about 2:30 p.m., according to NJ Transit spokesperson William Smith. That information was not relayed to Patch until about 3:30 p.m.

NJ Transit does not yet know if the problem was weather-related, but is continuing to investigate the cause, Smith said.

From shortly after noon until about 2:30 p.m., the trains could not run south of the Manasquan station because the bridge leading from there to Point Pleasant Beach was stuck in the open position.

NJ Transit was providing shuttle buses from the Manasquan train station to Bay Head for passengers traveling south of Manasquan, Smith said.
