Crash Into Garage Leads to DWI, Other Charges for Woman, 20

Vehicle left Maple Avenue in Brick, struck garage and three other cars

A Neptune woman is facing drunk driving and obstruction charges after crashing into a Maple Avenue resident's garage, police said.

Brick police responded to a 2:41 a.m. accident on the street in the township's Herbertsville section Wednesday, said Sgt. Keith Reinhard.

When Patrolman Mark Byers arrived on the scene, he discovered a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Naverine Celeste, 20, of Neptune, had left the road and crashed into a garage.

An investigation determined that Celeste had been traveling eastbound on Maple Avenue when she apparently lost control of the vehicle.

The Taurus then struck a curb, followed by the garage portion of a residential home, then, finally, another vehicle which was parked in the driveway, said Reinhard.

The impact of the crash caused the garage to partially collapse onto a third vehicle, which was parked inside of the garage.

The two parked vehicles involved are registered to the home that was struck, Reinhard said.

"When the responding officers were initially speaking to Celeste about what had occurred, she reported that a male subject had been driving the vehicle and had fled on foot prior to the police arriving on scene," said Reinhard, but after further investigation it was determined that Celeste was alone, and was driving.

Celeste was charged with DWI, underage DWI, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain a lane, violating the provisional hours of operation and obstructing the administration of law for giving false information to the initial responding officers.

Brick Police EMS treated Celeste for minor injuries at the scene.

The Herbertsville Fire Department and the Brick Township building inspector also responded, due to the extensive damage to the home, said Reinhard.

there is always double standards when it comes to justice u can always buy freedom if u have the money for lawyers just ask oj simpson lol and the brick cops suck when it comes to doing there jobs anyway there all overpaid in this town,, just like all the politicians too.
bill January 26, 2013 at 02:37 PM
and as far as people driving drunk u all probably have done it at least once in your life. and most likely some of u still do. so never cast stones when u live in a glass house hell most cops drive drunk just because they can because they carry a badge and one more point i should make is that the should put breathalyzers in all township owned verichles and all public servants should be given drug and alcohol tests when ever they report for duty period but that wont never happen lol
shocking January 26, 2013 at 02:43 PM

clamdigger most people in new jersey have the bare minimum in insurance.. who wouldn't. hell some states don't even require insurance and besides the people have homeowners insurance anyway.. so whats your point.... .
bill January 26, 2013 at 03:00 PM

Bill, Please tell us how many DWI's you are working up to at this point. You sure sound like someone who has been throught the system and is a bit bitter. Sorry mommy didnt love you and dad was AWOL during your formative years. Not our fault although we pay the bill in the end for your criminal behavior. Multiple posts sure look like you got an axe to grind.

foreal January 26, 2013 at 10:24 PM

C January 26, 2013 at 10:36 PM
No where in the story did it say Maple Leaf. It said on Maple Ave.
clamdigger January 26, 2013 at 10:54 PM
@bill; yes I know some states don't require ins but we don't live in some states we live in NJ and as far as the homeowners having H/O's ins, why should they be forced to pay ANYTHING out of pocket (deductible) when they were the innocent party? this chick did probably did tens of thousands in damage and since this will probably be lumped into one incident, a policy w/ the bare minimum won't be sufficient. I believe the minimum of Property Damage Liability required is $5,000. hopefully this driver will have a judgment of wage garnishment until full restoration is made.
Y'all Crazy January 27, 2013 at 05:54 AM
Bill is right. A lot of cops do drive drunk. Majority of cops in my town go bowling on Sundays together and get wasted at the bar then go driving home. And why? Because there cops are they know if they get pulled over the cops gonna let them go home
wrong doesn't make right January 27, 2013 at 02:05 PM
ya'll Crazy, Are they over 21? Are they Driving into property? Not that Driving & driving is ok, But this story is about a girl out at 2:41am In Maple Leaf... Under age....This is not a story about what someone ELSE is doing.....
Jerry Belle January 27, 2013 at 02:16 PM
You should never ASSume as much as you do; it would be like me saying, "bill, must be drunk writing such a dopey comment." Perhaps you enjoy engaging in transference, but not everyone has driven drunk... Another point you make is pure conjecture and silly - most cops do not drive drunk. They are at risk in today's technology era of being caught on dash cam, cctv cameras, etc...and most wouldn't risk their pensions and freedom to do something so dangerous as to drive drunk and think a badge will save them from the repercussions. Of course, any cop with a diminished mentality such as yours, "bill" may do such stupid acts, but the rest of us hope your kinds are few and far between.
Jerry Belle January 27, 2013 at 02:18 PM
I am starting to think "bill" was dropped on his head as a child. Get some professional help with that anti-law enforcement obsession you have and get it fast.
Jerry Belle January 27, 2013 at 02:19 PM
Do you always re-write others comments a day later? Have YOU been drinking while typing....lol Jerry Belle 3:00 pm on Friday, January 25, 2013 Just watch this case, she'll probably get more time than the drunk pothead that killed the boy on Jordan Rd. in Brick...
Jerry Belle January 27, 2013 at 02:21 PM
Thank you. I was staring to think I was the only one seeing through "bill"'s agenda.. (Luv the mommy and dad input!)
Jerry Belle January 27, 2013 at 02:24 PM
Stop with the urban myths and being delusional. Think about what you wrote. The reality is that a cop on-duty pulls over an unknown car and calls it in, before exiting the radio car, giving plate information, vehicle description, occupants, etc.. - all recorded at dispatch. He realizes they're all off-duty cops and drunk. You say the on-duty cop lets them go and drive away. Sure, if they were to crash or strike a pedestrian - the on-duty cop just kissed his pension, career and possibly freedom away. Sure, that happens all the time [sarcasm].
clamdigger January 27, 2013 at 02:25 PM
it doesn't say she "was in Maple Leaf" she was on Maple Ave,(connects Herbertsville and Burnt Tavern) the street which Krauszer's is on.
Obcare January 28, 2013 at 05:44 PM
