Cops: Brick Man Arrested in Bizarre Harassment Case

Cops: man tracked down college flame, threatened to send food, strippers to her

A Brick man has turned himself in to Stamford, Ct. police after they say he harassed a woman he dated more than 20 years ago for an extended period of time, including sending a variety of ordered goods and food to her home, according to Lt. Diedrich Hohn.

According to Hohn, a New Canaan woman and her husband in December 2012 began receiving harassing phone calls from a man identified by authorities as Donato Anthony Minicozzi, 49, of Lions Head South Blvd. in Brick, N.J.

Minicozzi, police charge, was calling the woman and her husband at their home and at his place of business in Stamford's financial sector, which is when Stamford authorities got involved.

Minicozzi was allegedly telling the woman he "wanted her" and she "belonged to him," telling her husband that he was going to "have her" and ordering large amounts of delivery food, like large quantities of Chinese food or 20 pizzas at a time. He also began threatening to send strippers and call girls, police said.

Hohn said the woman dated Minicozzi back in their college days, but she couldn't initially figure out who it was that was calling. Police said she eventually pieced it together because of information Minicozzi had about her family and college experience.

Hohn said the woman's husband had been recording the harassing phone calls and provided police with copies of all the conversations. In them, Minicozzi also allegedly made comments about wanting something in return in order for the victims to be left alone. He did not mention money, but some other type of compensation.

When police finally tracked Minicozzi down, Hohn said Minicozzi was surprised because, they say, he'd been using a disposable cell phone to make the calls.

Once confronted by authorities, police say he admitted to making the calls and apologized, saying it was a joke that had gotten out of hand, and drove from Brick to Stamford to turn himself over to police. Hohn said in addition to admitting to the phone calls, Minicozzi also provided police with the cell phone from which the calls were made.

Hohn said they had no further thoughts on a motive or how or why he'd tracked the woman down after so many years, though Minicozzi also worked in the financial sector and knew who the woman's husband was. He said Minicozzi only offered that he'd been lonely after recently going through a divorce and took things too far.

Minicozzi was charged with first-degree harassment (terrorizing or threatening), second-degree threatening and attempt to commit first-degree larceny (extortion).

He was issued a $50,000 bond, which he posted.

Probably a disabled kook who lives with his elderly parents in Lions Head and is off his meds.
So now what you liberal scourges, what do we do with this time bomb, just let him out with a summons.

There are some strange people in this world. Some stalk old flames, others have such obsessive, ignorant hate for an opposing political group that they leave comments not really relevant to the article...

Just take this whack job to the vet and humanely put him down. Save us all anymore trouble...

In a case such as this, one wonders if the guy might have previously committed extortion on others without the proper authorities being brought in. A victim might be inclined to go that route for fear of embarrassment. A suspect who successfully uses extortion for monetary gain in one situation might not hesitate to try it again on someone else given the opportunity. Perhaps with less luck.

No the liberals will want him punished appropriately but the conservative nut jobs will want to guarantee that no universal background check stops him from buying his guns at a gun show.

Mark, now this whacko knows your name and he might stalk you. That is why I never use my real name in on line posts. Weirdos and freaks can contact you when you use your real name. Instead just use your real initials or an alias.

he'll probably run for and get elected to the town council or could possibly be our next mayor. after all if Fozman, Lydecker, and Ducey can get elected I don't see why this guy shouldn't be given a shot.

Gee, KC how did you get my handle. I post almost every night and my handle is KC. I am surprised Patch allows that. You have said nothing disconcerting to me, but I am afraid people will be mixing me up with you.

I agree with quiet time. Def consideration of my neighbors if they have a sleeping baby or back yardRead More party. We surely try to respect that.

Funny Lelenore, I don't see that there are very many rules and regs. If it were elected it would notRead More be an infringement. I respect your opinion, but still feel six day time hours out of an entire week is not a lot to ask. If nothing else, would love to see a ban on gas leaf blowers. There are towns that have that in place. The mowers are not really IMHO that intrusive, but the leaf blowers and concrete cutters are another matter. Trouble is, people herebouts think they are in Montana and often are as you say, on 100 by 100 lots. What is the point of having all of this grass and trees if one never has the serenity about them to enjoy it? I think the ill effects of suburban noise pollution on health - blood pressure, aggression, release of the chemical cortisol etc. are well documented. Over a twenty five year period in time in Brick I find that this has become a real quality of life issue. At one point in my life I resided in mid town Manhattan and ya know what - being high up IT WAS QUIETER! Jackson? I don't think so. Doesn't Brielle have such an elective ordinance?

It was suppose to move next to the next liquor store behind Harbor Freight on Hooper. But,they neverRead More did.And when we pass it,it looks like they aren't even working on that side of the building. We miss that place for their deli dept.

They are waiting for the new store to get dirty and smell. It needs to be run down a little bit forRead More it to function properly.
can't say who June 19, 2013 at 05:44 pm
Right next to the liquor store. The reason it is taking so long is the politics of Acropolis andRead More Pat Botazzi. They kept the liquor store from opening for TWO years by controlling the planning board and caused the store owner HUNDREDS OF THOUSANS OF DOLLARES WITH COURT FIGHTS. Acropolis LOST THE COURT FIGHTS BUT CONTINUES TO BEAT UP ON THE LIQUOR STORE'S NEW TENNANT AS RETROBUTION Now Acropolis can play the code enforcement game and still get his happiness as a bigoted soon to be ex mayor and not a nice man. How about denying this. It is going to be a great store with the same owners and great food IF Acropolis doesn't have them go bankrupt due to him before they even open.
