Brick, Toms River Men Face Fraud, Drug Indictments

Several local men charged with obtaining drugs by deception

Men from Brick and Toms River, as well as others from Monmouth and Middlesex counties, were indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury on fraud and drug charges this week.

Joseph Italiano, 24, of Toms River; Nathan Mendoza, 38, of Toms River; Wayne Laborante, 23, of Brick; and James Laborante, 25, of Brick – as well as Sai Huang, 33, of Metuchen and Jonathan Penn, 26, of Howell, were named in the indictment.

The men are accused of falsifying records, a fourth degree crime, by presenting MRI reports from several Shore area imaging centers, knowing they contained false information in order to deceive a Middletown physician with the purpose of trying to obtain drugs.

The men also face various drug charges, including obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by way of fraud. The substances in question, according to court documents, include oxycodone, alprazolam and carisoprodol.
