Brick Residents Indicted in Burglary String

Shaun D. Paine, 30, remains behind bars in Monmouth County

Two Brick residents are accused of a string of burglaries in which jewelry was stolen from private homes earlier this year.

Dana S. Hampton, 26, of Jarome Street, and Shaun D. Paine, 30, of Arbutus Drive, are accused of breaking into a homes on Leswing Drive Jan. 26, South Dock Road Jan. 28, Emberly Road March 3, Lime Road March 3, Bay Harbor Road March. 4 and Shady Lane March 10.

They are also accused of receiving stolen jewelry, cell phones, I-pods, book bags, according to an indictment returned by an Ocean County grand jury.

All of the burglaries occurred in the daytime with the target being residential homes, Brick Police Capt. John Rein said in April, when . In all of the incidents, a rear window was the point of entry. Jewelry, small electronic items and purses were taken, he said.

Rein said police recovered the stolen purses in a residence where Hampton and other suspects were staying, though none of the jewelry – estimated to be valued around $20,000 – had been found.

Paine is in the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold in lieu of $75,000 bail. Hampton was released after being served with a summons.

The grand jurors also indicted:

  • Eric M. Froehlich, 24, of Red Maple Drive, Brick, for trying to steal a laptop computer from Best Buy there July 24.
  • Jennifer A. Pichler, 24, of McLaughlin Avenue, Point Pleasant, for stealing more than $500 from a Scott’s Lawn Care account at Ocean First Bank in Point Pleasant between Nov. 15 and March 23.
  • Stady J. Theibault, 49, of Jackson Place, Brick, for shoplifting jewelry and clothing from the Kohl’s store in Brick on June 10.
  • Christopher A. Reid, 36, of Nortrup Drive, Brick; Michael A. Curcio, 37, of Bell Street, Toms River; and Robert G. Tompkins Jr., 25, of Ridgefield Drive, Point Pleasant, for having Oxycodone April 21 in Brick. Reid and Curcio are also accused of distributing the drug.
  • Roger R. Trenkle, 43, of Arlene Court, Brick, for having herlin there June 10.
  • John M. Causanelli, 48, of Labana Court, Brick, for having cocaine there June 30 and Oxycodone and Alprazolam on March 18.
  • Alex J. Molinaro, 30, of Flora Court, Brick, for having Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and Alprazolam there April 18.
