The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office confirmed on Monday that a 31-year-old Berkeley Township man was stabbed and killed by a Brick man after he and an accomplice tried to enter the Brick man's residence with the intent of robbing it.
Adam Ferguson was stabbed inside the Marilyn Drive home of Brick resident Joseph P. Bellisano, Jr., 27, after he and Mark A. Dillard, of South Toms River, attempted to rob the home, according to Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
Brick Patch of the incident, which occurred at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday. Ferguson, of Shearwater Hollow in the township's Bayville section, was pronounced dead at Ocean Medical Center, Brick, at 7:53 p.m., Mohel said.
The accomplice, Dillard, 30, was arrested and charged with armed robbery. Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson, Jr., set bail at $350,000 cash. Dillard was being lodged in the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, in lieu of bail.
Police also arrested Bellisano following the incident. He was charged with drug possession and intent to distribute oxycodone and released on a summons. He has not been charged in the stabbing.
The investigation into the incident is continuing, and authorities are asking anyone with information on the case to contact Brick police Detective Ken Steinberg at 732-262-1120 or the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027.

Why must everyone come out and judge. Let the investigation take place. There is still another person who was with him. There has to be more to this story.
You should be proud of your family and that they have not suffered from war. Addiction is a horrible thing and illness and it happens to all people. You should be proud that none of your men are addicted to drugs, alcohol, food, gambling .. You also should be proud that the men in your life are so strong.. ADDICTION is horrible and when ignorant people make comments on this board it’s even sadder because you’re one less person that will help resolve this epidemic.. It angers me how the Dr.’s out there just dish out the meds.. I recall seeing my Marine given large amounts of pain killers.. He did not become addicted to them.. I have also seen many young teens coming from great homes across the US that have become addicted to these horrible pills.. I lived all over Ocean County that includes Brick, TR, Lacey and Seaside.. NOO matter where you are there are all kinds of drugs out there for the rich and poor.. and addicts come in all shapes and sizes..
You have your right to make judgments (as do I) and I would think being that you have so many family members in the military that you would know what they see during war.. It sounds like you’re more upset because he served our country.. AS for the others that posted negative comments on here how embarrassing to think that you are an American! Who are you to post nasty comments… Unless you get off upsetting people.. while sitting in your chair all day.. GET A LIFE and give back to society instead of making nasty comments do something to help out.. OR are you not intelligent enough too.. HAVE any of you every lost anyone to cancer, an accident, heart attack.. tragically! How heartless you are.. Shame on you all for making negative comments.. He was a young man that could have gotten help.. and stabbed in the back.. ! THE BACK.. This poor man has a family that will go on living with this horrible memory.. He will no longer be suffering from addiction.. (that is if he really was one) but his family will forever.. Think about his parents and his only brother.. This momma lost 2 sons.. That is heart breaking.. could any of you image that.. and when you make evil comments.. it is worse than being an addict or dealer.. it just shows what ignorant people you are.. To Adam’s family and friends may you live on by thinking about the good times.. My condolences to you.. JK
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
Love and compassion --their day is coming.
Obviously this guy did something wrong somewhere and I was not judging him, merely stating facts. Many with PTSD do not do illegal things. Many in fact withdraw from society totally living in tent cities and drinking their lives away. I do know what I speak of. Sadly this man took a wrong turn and like I said, his family needs our prayers now.
To say that others served in combat but turned to alcohol instead of "illegal" drugs begs the question. It irks me that we make so much fuss about "serving the USA in the military" but when those souls return to civilian life, they don't get the help they need to make the transition. My experience with post traumatic stress comes from the '70's being attacked from behind by a man with a knife and another time having a gun pointed at me and told to get into the car. I was not in "the wrong neighborhood" incidentally. I was fortunate in that I wasn't stabbed and got away in the first instance. In the secon d (broad daylight), I memorized the license plate, turned around (fully expecting to be shot) and walked to a diner. When I blurted out what had happened, no one would get involved and write dwn the license number. I was told to go to the pay phone; I forgot the license number. As a consequence of these two, brief encounters, I went through insomnia. I continue to be jumpy, especially when I hear footsteps running up behind me. I would never presume to tell a veteran s/he should "get over" having been in combat. I haven't walked in those shoes. If we give physical therapy to those with broken bones, why is psychological therapy not regarded as just as important in the recovery process?
What are the facts? I didn't hear any facts or see anything posted that were factual? The "nicest" guy you know was selling prescription narcotics, anybody can see that. My intent was not to talk trash to a random post, the whole thing is shady, robbers and drug dealer are all guilty, it doesn't matter.
I don't know where you conjured up the idea that "my family has not suffered from war." I've tried to post a correction to this previously but they keep removing my post,. My husband does "SUFFER FROM WAR" and he is addicted to alcohol, but we must not forget, alcohol is a "LEGAL" substance. If it were not a legal substance, I can assure you, being a former Law Enforcement Officer, my husband would not imbibe! Now if this post is not permitted as the last three were not, Oh well. Your ignorance is astounding and to make accusations of people you do not know, just shows your high level of ignorance JK.
