Two homes backed up to the woods, police say

Brick Police are investigating two daytime burglaries that occurred on Tuesday at two residential homes.

The first burglary, which Capt. Robert Mazza said occurred at a home on Tiller Lane between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., involved a suspect smashing the rear door to unlock it for entry.

"The master bedroom was ransacked and, at this time, it is unknown if anything was taken," said Mazza.

Detective Michael Feeney is investigating.

In a similar time frame, between 10:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., a home on  Seaview Ave in the Seaview Village senior citizen community was burglarized, Mazza said. In this case, he said, the suspect smashed the rear window of the residence to gain entry.

The bedroom dresser and television stand were ransacked, and a lock box and jewelry box of costume jewelry were removed, said Mazza.

A witness told police that they saw, between 12 noon 12:30 p.m., a white male, approximately 30 years of age, exit the garage carrying a small bag and box. The suspect then entered a gray vehicle that was parked in the victim's driveway, said Mazza.

Detective Dan Waleski is investigating that burglary.

In both incidents, the homes back up to the woods, said Mazza.
