Brick Police Investigating Maple Leaf Park Stabbing

Victim was being treated at Ocean Medical Center

Brick Police are investigating a stabbing that is alleged to have taken place at a party in the Maple Leaf Park complex Friday night.

Officers responded to Ocean Medical Center after an 18-year-old Neptune man arrived there seeking treatment for a stab wound.

Jalen Gibson, the victim, told police he was at a party in the Herbertsville condominium complex, and was stabbed in the thigh by an unknown person after walking outside, according to Capt. John Rein.

Gibson's friends heard him screaming after the incident and drove him to Ocean Medical Center where he was treated for a stab wound to the thigh.

Gibson and his friends were not cooperative with officers and investigators and refused to divulge the location of the party or stabbing, Rein said.

Brick Police set up a Mobile Command in the Maple Leaf Park development and canvassed the area for several hours to look for witnesses and identify the location where the stabbing may have taken place. Investigators believe they have identified the location of the party, though the weapon has not been recovered and no arrests have been made, said Rein.

Gibson was treated for a non-life threatening laceration to his thigh and released from the hospital.

Brick Police Detective Erik Olsen is investigating the case.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Olsen at 732-262-1120 or the main police number at 732-262-1100.
