Brick Police Expand Description of Vehicle in Hit-and-Run; Pedestrian Still Critical
Police searching for dark blue or gray 4-door sedan
Brick Police are expanding their description of a vehicle that hit a 68 year-old pedestrian on Lanes Mills Road at 5:43 p.m. Dec. 2, as county and local authorities continue to search for the car and driver.
Brick Police Sgt. Henry Drew said the original description was a dark red, possible Nissan. But surveillance footage has broadened the description to include other colors and models, he said.
Police are continuing the investigation but searching for a possibly gray or blue, darker colored 4-door sedan, newer than 2005.
Video footage shows a license plate containing the letters C, H and Z, Drew said.
The sedan has a body type such as a Hyundai Sonata, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or Nissan Maxima.
From Drew:
"The suspect vehicle that fled the scene which was originally described by a witness as a 2005 or newer dark red Nissan 4-door sedan has been expanded upon. After obtaining video footage, the vehicle appears to have been a newer 4-door sedan, dark in color possibly gray or blue. Models to be considered are a Hyundai Sonata, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry or Nissan Maxima. The license plate number of the vehicle is believed to contain the letters “C”, “H” and “Z” as part of the registration."
Police have placed a flashing sign near the crash site, in hopes of drawing more witnesses forward. Drew said the video footage shows the potential for many witnesses, given the amount of traffic at the time of the crash.

"The video footage also reveals that the volume of vehicular traffic in the area was heavy at the time of the crash," Drew said in a press release. "Based on the footage, there should have been several motorists that observed the crash or observed the suspect vehicle that briefly pulled over to the side of the roadway before fleeing. Anyone who witnessed either is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit immediately."
Police are also hoping that area residents be on the lookout for vehicles with damage, and other clues, visible from the front of a residence.
