Brick Police Arrest Jackson Man Wanted for Carjacking

Robert Kuhn, 21, was found at a 7-Eleven store

Brick Police arrested a Jackson resident who is facing a variety of charges in Howell, including carjacking after an incident early Saturday morning.

Robert Kuhn, 21, of Jackson was the front seat passenger in a car driven by 19-year-old Howell resident. According to Howell Police Detective Sgt. Eileen Dodd, a call came in at 2:15 a.m. Saturday morning in Howell's Ramtown section, which borders Brick.

Kuhn, the driver and three other passengers were reportedly coming home from a party when Kuhn had an argument with one of the passengers in the back seat. Upon arriving at Bayberry Court, Kuhn demanded a gold chain and cross being worn by the 18-year-old passenger they had just let out of the car. At that time he reportedly ripped necklace off the other person.

When the driver of the car attempted to break things up, Kuhn locked himself in the car, moved over to the driver's side and drove away with one of the passengers still in the backseat. After driving around the neighborhood Kuhn hit a dead end and ran into the woods, according to Dodd. He was spotted by a state trooper around mile marker 94 of the Garden State Parkway before running away again.

Dodd said he Kuhn was finally located at a 7-Eleven in Brick by Brick police officers. He was arrested at that time and taken to the Howell Police Department. Dodd said upon his arrival at the department he was found to be wearing the stolen necklace.

Kuhn faces several charges including first degree carjacking with an occupant still in the car, second degree robbery, simple assault and a disorderly persons offense. He was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution, Freehold, where he is being held on $200,000 bail according to court records.
