Brick Police Among Departments Participating in Prescription Drug Turn-In
Unwanted prescription drugs can be turned in at police headquarters
Building on last year’s success, when Americans turned in more than 121 tons of prescription drugs that might have fed the appetites of millions of drug abusers, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is holding its second annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 30 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Sixteen police departments in Ocean County are taking part, urging those with unwanted prescription drugs to bring them to their headquarters.
Organizers of the event say it is designed to reduce the opportunity for the nation’s more than seven million prescription drug abusers to get drugs. Many of them get the drugs from medicine cabinets of friends or relatives, according to the Partnership for a Drug Free America.
