Brick Man Indicted on Drug Charges

Drum Point Road resident faces multiple charges

A Drum Point Road man, arrested in Brick for assaulting a police officer in April, has been indicted on charges stemming from a separate incident in Stafford Township.

Robert D. Spinelli, 48, was indicted last week for threatening a woman in Stafford and having marijuana and planning to distribute it there on March 18.

Spinelli was known to have warrants outstanding when Brick Police Patrolman Erik Olsen in which he was riding on April 19, Capt. John Rein said at the time. Spinelli attempted to place the vehicle in reverse, then resisted Olsen's attempts to arrest him, Rein said.

In that incident, Spinelli was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of weapon, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Other recent indictments include:
  • Mary Anne Nasca, 22, of Robin Drive, Lakewood, for an aggravated assault on Ptl. John Palowicz  and Joseph Rossi in Brick on April 12 and resisting their attempts to arrest her. She is free on $25,000 bail.
  • Carl Kovi, 22, of Spruce Road, Howell, and Anthony J. Hardvig, 21, of Frede Drive, Brick, for breaking into a home on South Lake Drive in Brick and stealing jewelry, electronics and food on May 12.
  • Kevin James, 25, of Walden Road, Brick, for stealing a woman’s 14-karat gold necklace with birthstone figures in Brick on May 2.
  • William C. McKelvey, 23, of Paulison Avenue, Point Pleasant, for an aggravated assault on a victim identified only as J.E. there on July 8.
  • Jason M. Avalos, 32, of Shetland Drive, Lakewood, for threatening Ptl. Peter Andreyev and damaging property of the Pelican Point Motel in Point Pleasant Beacvh on March 13.
