Brick Man Hospitalized Following Toms River Crash

Crash happened at 9 p.m. on Thursday on Yorktown Boulevard

Toms River police are investigating a single car crash Thursday that sent a Brick man to a trauma center.

The 9 p.m. crash occurred on Yorktown Boulevard in the Holiday City adult community when a 2008 Cadillac driven by 63-year-old Alesio Politi left the road and struck a tree near Hovsons Boulevard, said Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

"The vehicle then traveled 45 feet and overturned trapping the driver inside," Mastronardy said.

Politi was removed from the car by responders from the Silverton Volunteer Fire Company. The Silverton First Aid Squad treated the man and he was flown to the trauma center at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, according to the chief.

The crash is under investigation by Sgt. Keith Diehl and Traffic Safety Officer Steven Schwartz, Mastronardy said.
