Brick Man Charged in Lakewood Robbery

Suspect vehicle located in front of a home shortly after robbery

A Brick Township man has been accused of robbing a Lakewood man of approximately $3,000, police said.

Lakewood Police Officer Jonathan Pederson responded to the robbery call in the area of Congress Street at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, police said in a statement.

Upon arrival, the victim, a 28-year-old Lakewood man, told the officer he was speaking to two other men in the area of Laurel Avenue and, at some point during the conversation, the men noticed that he had "a lot" of money on him.

One of the men allegedly struck the victim in the head with an unknown object and took approximately $3,000 from the victim before the both fled the area on foot, according to police.

As officers conducted their investigation, they linked a white vehicle to the robbery, which was found in front of a Laurel Avenue home a short time later.

Ultimately, police charged Shakee Jackson, 20, of Brick, with robbery.

Bail was set at $10,000 and Jackson was transported to Ocean County Jail, police said. Jackson was not listed as an inmate at the jail on Thursday.
