Brick Man Arrested in Overnight Stabbing

Argument may have led to assault, police say

A Brick man was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with stabbing another township man earlier in the night.

Police responded to an emergency call at 10:05 p.m. Monday night reporting that a man had been beaten at 1448 Brentwood Avenue during an alleged argument, Brick Police Capt. John Rein said.

When police arrived at the scene, officers and medical personnel determined Richard Peal, a 33-year-old township resident, had suffered a severe stab wound to his abdomen as well as additional lacerations.

An investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Thomas Mitchell, 34, a Vista Court resident. Mitchell was arrested at about 3 a.m. after being located at his home, Rein said.
