Brick Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting, Threatening Boy

27-year-old accused of sexually assaulting boy over three-year period in Mount Arlington

A Brick man is accused of sexually assaulting and threatening to kill a now-10-year-old boy while the two lived together for three years in Mount Arlington, Morris County, according to an arrest affidavit.

Joel C. Adams, 27, was charged Tuesday with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree sexual assault and third-degree making terroristic threats.

According to an arrest affidavit on file with the Morris County court, Mount Arlington police were notified of the alleged incidents on Oct. 3.

The alleged victim was interviewed the next day and told authorities Adams threatened to kill him and his "loved ones" if he told anyone about the alleged assaults, the affidavit said.

The alleged sexual contact and sexual assaults occurred while Adams and the boy lived together in Mount Arlington between December 2004 and June 2007, according to the affidavit.

Adams had legal duty to care for the child during that time, according to the affidavit.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert A. Bianchi said the arrest is the result of a joint investigation between the Morris County Prosecutor's Office Sex Crimes Unit and the Mount Arlington Police Department.

Adams is being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 cash bail with no 10 percent option.

Judge Stuart Minkowitz ordered Adams not have any contact with the victim or the boy's family and no contact with any children under 16 years old, Bianchi said.

Adams is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 24.

Horrible. What is wrong with these mentally sick people. I really wish they start opening the all the instatiuions back up. This young adult needs mental care. I just thank the young boy that came forward, look how many lives he has saved. At the age of 27 he could really done a ton of damage to children. I hope the young boy gets the help he needs and is definalty told he is brave and he saved other young boys. Thoughts are with him!

This "Man" cannot be fixed... proven fact that pedophiles are unable to be rehabilitated. Just string him up by his jock strap and put the time and money into this poor child, now likely scared for life. I am so sick of these sick bastards that our society is forced to deal with.

I think castration of these sickos should be put on a ballot and let voters decide on making it into law and to hell wih the ACLU. Let's see how they would feel if one of their own children had to go through this hell.

Lucy... I like the way you think! And Boose is right 97% can not be rehabilitated. They have said so themselves while being interviewed from jail with Oprah. So what do we do with them ? Castration is a good answer... when they commit such a crime they loose their rights as a human being, and should be treated as an animal. JMHO...I hope this poor boy is able to put this behind him and live a normal life.

Why waste time and money on a jail cell for this BASTARD. Let's just string him up on the 3rd Wed. of the month at noon and make it a pay for view event for all to watch.

Send him to misfit island after prison since he will do it again.

Just let the other prisoners know what he did and leave them unsupervised for a little while. That should take care of it.
