Brick Man, 68, Indicted in Stabbing Death of Stepfather, 93

Albert Dressler has been jailed since July 2011 death

A Brick man has been indicted on murder and weapon charges in the death of his elderly stepfather.

Albert A. Dressler, 68, was indicted by an Ocean County grand jury last week after being arrested at his home July 24, 2011.

The body of Victor DiDonato, 93, was found by police at 2:31 p.m. July 24 in the kitchen of the home where he lived in the Lions Head Woods retirement community in Lakewood, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. DiDonato had suffered multiple stab wounds.

Dressler, DiDonato's stepson, reportedly fled the Petty Place, Lakewood, home of his stepfather in a Buick Lacrosse sedan. He was taken into custody at 2:48 p.m. that day by Brick police at his home at 168 Lions Head Boulevard South, and taken to Lakewood police headquarters where he was charged, the prosecutor's office said.

Dressler was indicted on first-degree murder and third-degree possession of a weapon (knife) for an unlawful purpose charges.

He is still being held in the Ocean County Jail on $750,000 bail, no 10 percent option.
