Brick Hunter Dies Following Howell Rescue Effort

New Jersey State Police Helicopter helped locate men in Ramtown woods.

A Brick resident died after going into cardiac arrest while hunting in Howell according to the local police department.

Sgt. Thomas Weg of the Howell Police Department said a little before 5:30 on Thursday night the department got word of a 55-year-old man suffering chest pains in the area west of Deerwood Park. The man, whose identity was not revealed, was hunting with his brother at the time.

In the heavily wooded area first responders had difficulty locating the two men as the hunters were reportedly unfamiliar with the area. The search included members of the Howell Police Department, the Ramtown Fire Department and Ramtown First Aid Squad.
