A Brick resident died after going into cardiac arrest while hunting in Howell according to the local police department.

Sgt. Thomas Weg of the Howell Police Department said a little before 5:30 on Thursday night the department got word of a 55-year-old man suffering chest pains in the area west of Deerwood Park. The man, whose identity was not revealed, was hunting with his brother at the time.

In the heavily wooded area first responders had difficulty locating the two men as the hunters were reportedly unfamiliar with the area. The search included members of the Howell Police Department, the Ramtown Fire Department and Ramtown First Aid Squad.

The pair were eventually located near the Tullo Farm on Route 547 with the help of a New Jersey State Police Helicopter equipped with a thermal imager. Weg said the man was taken to Ocean Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The man’s identity was not being released pending notification of family members.

Very sad for the family. God bless them. At least he left this world doing something he loved...

@Greg - absolutely right... I always said... I've lived a good life, so please God when you take me do it when I'm playing golf. Then spread my ashes on the 18th green at Pebble Beach...
