Brick Cops Bust Suspected Heroin Dealer After Herbertsville Road Surveillance

Members of the Brick Township Police Department's Selective Enforcement Team nabbed a suspected drug dealer after witnessing what they believe to be a transaction near the intersection of Herbertsville Road and Maple Avenue.

Officers with the team were conducting surveillance of the intersection Tuesday night when they observed two individuals conducting what they believed to be a narcotics transaction, Sgt. Henry Drew said. After completion of the transaction, both subjects left the area in their respective vehicles.

Shortly thereafter, Sgt. Arthur Rivaldo stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Waterfront Drive, Drew said. An investigation on scene led to the arrest of Wayne C. Bilder, 43, of Waterfront Drive, on drug charges after police seized 36 glassine envelopes of heroin, $493 in U.S. currency, suspected drug sale transaction records and an open bottle of brandy, according to Drew.

Bilder was transported to Brick Police Headquarters where he was charged with distribution of heroin, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, having a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, having an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle, and failure to exhibit motor vehicle documents.

Bilder was released on criminal summonses with a court date that is pending, Drew said.

Patrolmen Brian Ulman, Mark Storch, and Ray La point also assisted with the investigation.
