Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who may be linked to two bank robberies.
On Jan. 4, an unidentified man robbed the OceanFirst bank branch on Adamston Road in Brick. During the course of the investigation into that robbery, investigators discovered that their suspect appeared to look very similar to the suspect in another bank robbery that occurred in Jan. 2012, said Brick Police Sgt. Keith Reinhard.
The previous robbery occurred in Woodbridge.
The suspect in the Brick bank robbery is described as a white male, approximately six feet tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap, dark hooded coat, a light grey shirt, blue jeans and dark sneakers at the time. He fled in a green vehicle, possibly a Mazda, with an undisclosed amount of money.
"Fortunately no one was injured as a result of this robbery," said Reinhard.
The incident is being investigated by Detective Thomas Cooney from the Brick Township Police Department Investigations Unit along with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Red Bank Office.
"We are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects in either of these bank robberies," said Reinhard.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact Cooney at 732-262-1120 or the FBI at 732-741-0006.
