Arrest Made in Convenience Store Robbery

Brick woman, 42, charged in robbery

Police have arrested a township woman and charged her with the robbery of a convenience store last weekend.

Gia Palmieri, 42, is suspected of robbing the Quick Stop Convenience Store on Route 88, just north of Midstreams Road.

The robbery occurred Oct. 6 at about 4 p.m., said Brick Police Detective Jim Burgess.

A female walked in the store wearing a stocking that covered her face and demanded cash from the owner, he said. At the time she was holding what appeared to be a handgun.

Palmieri was arrested Thursday after an investigation, said Burgess. Police now suspect what appeared to be a handgun was actually an Airsoft gun.

Palmieri has been charged with robbery and unlawful possession of an immitation firearm. She was being lodged in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail, a check of jail records showed.

If she is a really good person, how would you describe a bad person?

I agree no one cares about the white middle class but please do nt tell me there is a race requirement to get assistance.
The country is in bad bad shape yet all the people who condone her criminal act will vet democrat and not for a competent government. What's next, people coming into your home and robing you, or stealing our property to "feed their kids" would you call the police if that happened or chalk it up to someone needing the money and let it go. What about the store clerk who was terrified, or the lose of money the insurance company will not cover, why should people be allowed to steal from the rest of us.

It is what it is. People that know Gia know the truth. She, her husband and mother-in-law are all addicts. It is not fair that a convenience store has to be robbed to feed an addiction. There is no Government assistance needed here. THAT IS WHAT IS KILLING THIS COUNTRY!!!! Her family is fed up with the addiction. You can only put up with so much that is why the house is up for sale. Gia and her husband do not hold the mortgage, HER parents do. Gia has a big family and they are done with the addiction and constant lies. Gia you were once a young pretty girl with the world at your feet. God bless her two beautiful children. The pain they have had to endure is absolutely unreal.
Danelle Madigan October 14, 2012 at 12:13 am
Gia is a beautiful person inside and out. I am one of her best friends, she is a great person ! I GUESS YOUR PERFECT. Have you ever been through hard times? Go to HELL!
Penn Cross October 14, 2012 at 12:13 am
The older couple who own that store are very nice people. Sad to hear they were robbery victims.
Brickbobby October 14, 2012 at 12:44 am
Danelle, perhaps if you are truly one her "best friends", you could have helped her rather than leave her no choice but to hold up a convenience store. Whether it was to feed her family (which we know it is not true because her husband works with one of your family members), or to feed a drug addiction, which we we all know is true, it is not right. If she fell on rough times, where were her friends? A friend of mine who also knows Gia, watched the SWAT team go into the house, put her in the police car, while her teenage daughter stood outside. Thank God her son was on a class trip and did not witness it. By the way, we are all going through hard times right know. It's called get a job, get a second job, cut back, tell your kids "no", etc. Believe you me Danelle, I know Gia and her family longer than you. She had a great job at the Middle School and was a great para with the special needs kids. The BEST!!! She got addicted to oxy's. So, rather than telling everyone on the Patch to go to hell, why don't you start helping your "best friend" to mend? Help her kids get through this rough time. I know you are mad about the comments made here and you can tell me to go to hell, that's fine. I believe in my post I said "Gia you were once a young pretty girl with the world at your feet." She can have that again, especially with the help of her best friend. However, you cannot justify what Gia did was right.

Because I care It's our fault!!
Brickbobby October 14, 2012 at 02:46 am
I care too Danelle, that's why I set the story straight instead of letting people speculate what the true story really is. You are very defensive here. Actually, it is all of our faults. I bet everyone on this site knows someone who abuses or is addicted to painkillers. Unfortunately, we turn our heads because we have either tried to intervene, are too busy or don't want to believe it. It is sad that it has come to this. Someone earlier had posted about the guy with the hoodie and the cell phone who deals the oxys. I see him all the time up and down Midstreams Road, Route 88, Coolidge, standing outside 7-11, etc. I don't remember reading that Danelle Madigan is the reason for the downfall of Gia Palmieri. Again, your first comment was pretty harsh and immature at best. Danelle if a junkie robs your house blind I will pray to God that no one says to you "he/she is facing tough times so why don't you go to hell!" You worked hard your whole life for what you have just for it to be taken away by someone who has to support their addiction. That's not right.
WMS826 October 14, 2012 at 05:05 am
Danelle, I hope you get treatment for your problem as well.
Please surrender all your worldly goods, savings, and anything of value to those who "are in need" not because of this terrible govermental regime, but because they are a drug addict. Death penalty for all drug sellers and those involved in it's distribution. Then maybe we can all have some security.
WMS826 October 14, 2012 at 05:08 am
Sounds like they did the right thing and fired her, should she be around children and board of ed property and computers which she would be stealing. Perhaps she will steal from teachers purses because she is "in need"
KC October 14, 2012 at 06:10 am
Oh yah Aqua cause there are just so many job opportunities here in Brick and surrounding areas. And there is such a massive rapid transit system to get to where there are jobs. Wake up and don't be so judgeMENTAL.
KC October 14, 2012 at 06:12 am
Wow. What a story. So sad.
KC October 14, 2012 at 06:14 am
I am sorry, I find the term "white trash" to be offensive.
KC October 14, 2012 at 06:15 am
Aqua you are so offensive. If you are in favor I suggest you practice what you preach and bend over.
KC October 14, 2012 at 06:20 am
They shouldn't be allowed and I don't think anyone is saying so. A little empathy to the hard times so many people are going through does however seem in order and surely even a hardline, heartless GOP supporter could muster some up But hey, it is all good because JP Morgan announced record profits on Friday so It should all trickle down sometime soon right?
KC October 14, 2012 at 06:28 am
I wonder how much money this girl could have possibly gotten away with. A small amount is my guess.
Jim October 14, 2012 at 08:58 am
Come into my home with a stocking over your face and you will leave with a face full of lead.
Jim October 14, 2012 at 09:04 am
Do society a favor and arm every convenience store in Brick twp to the teeth before inflation really kicks in. All these section 8 crack heads will be coming out of the wood work then. Sending them to Guantanomo is a lenient penalty as far as I am concerned.
Jim October 14, 2012 at 09:05 am
Earths oldest profession. Not a bad idea for AC.
Jim October 14, 2012 at 09:10 am
Ummm. Did you beautiful friend just rob a store with a stocking on her face brandishing a firearm? Enough with the tolerance. Its time the heavy hand of the law comes down on these _ssclowns.
Jim October 14, 2012 at 09:13 am
Oh great.. She works in the public school system? This is why I vote down every school budget.
TimeForChange October 14, 2012 at 12:16 pm
Don't commit crimes and she wouldn't have been charged with anything.
TimeForChange October 14, 2012 at 12:19 pm
Turn to your family, friends, government or church. Turning to a crime like this only makes the situation that much worse. I would guess that she will stay in jail since the bail is set at $100k. This could only destroy a family.
Suzie A. October 14, 2012 at 01:02 pm
I live in Midstreams and hope the cops catch this guy with the hoodie. I have a hard time understanding how anyone would WANT to take oxy and those types of pills. I was given an rx after surgery last year and those pills made me itch, confused, dizzy and just plain sick! I got rid of them and toughed it out with Advil. Im sure these pills have a proper place and time, but people gotta use common sense and see the side effects and what it does to them, and ultimately their loved ones.
Typical Obama Voter October 14, 2012 at 02:03 pm
@KC, How dare you judge me. Stop being so judgemental.
Thats what we need here, massive rapid transit. You're a genius. Sbways and el trains will end all crimedown here, just like in the cities.
Janet C Suriano October 14, 2012 at 03:00 pm
To Thomas what you are saying is right in a way but believe me it is not a one size fits all problem. Gia is a wonderful person who found herself in a very bad situation what she did is unthinkable and all off us who have watched her grow up in a beautiful family are heartboken my whole family is suffering over this I cant even sleep thinking of her in jail she is not your hard hearted criminal please know that she was there for me when my family was hit with a drug addiction to where my husband ab=nd I found ourselves raising two babies Gia was the first to want to lend a helping hand I pray God gets her the help she needs and not the penal system.

It's like a white trash battle on here. Good people don't go and put a stocking on and go rob the convenience store or elsewhere. Everyone has a excuse! I'm hurting from the economy just like everyone else is and I would never go and do something like this. Wake up people! There's cameras EVERYWHERE!
WMS826 October 14, 2012 at 04:59 pm
Raise taxes or property values to get these people back to keansburg and neptune.

Funny Lelenore, I don't see that there are very many rules and regs. If it were elected it would notRead More be an infringement. I respect your opinion, but still feel six day time hours out of an entire week is not a lot to ask. If nothing else, would love to see a ban on gas leaf blowers. There are towns that have that in place. The mowers are not really IMHO that intrusive, but the leaf blowers and concrete cutters are another matter. Trouble is, people herebouts think they are in Montana and often are as you say, on 100 by 100 lots. What is the point of having all of this grass and trees if one never has the serenity about them to enjoy it? I think the ill effects of suburban noise pollution on health - blood pressure, aggression, release of the chemical cortisol etc. are well documented. Over a twenty five year period in time in Brick I find that this has become a real quality of life issue. At one point in my life I resided in mid town Manhattan and ya know what - being high up IT WAS QUIETER! Jackson? I don't think so. Doesn't Brielle have such an elective ordinance?

can't say who June 19, 2013 at 05:44 pm
Right next to the liquor store. The reason it is taking so long is the politics of Acropolis andRead More Pat Botazzi. They kept the liquor store from opening for TWO years by controlling the planning board and caused the store owner HUNDREDS OF THOUSANS OF DOLLARES WITH COURT FIGHTS. Acropolis LOST THE COURT FIGHTS BUT CONTINUES TO BEAT UP ON THE LIQUOR STORE'S NEW TENNANT AS RETROBUTION Now Acropolis can play the code enforcement game and still get his happiness as a bigoted soon to be ex mayor and not a nice man. How about denying this. It is going to be a great store with the same owners and great food IF Acropolis doesn't have them go bankrupt due to him before they even open.
