After Fleeing Troopers, Juveniles in Stolen Car Arrested in Brick

4 juveniles had fled troopers in car stolen from Alloway Township

A police pursuit which began on the Garden State Parkway ended in the Vanada Woods development of Brick Wednesday morning, resulting in the arrest of four juveniles who police said were driving a stolen vehicle.

Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, according to Brick Police Capt. John Rein, state troopers contacted Brick police and said they were attempting to stop a vehicle on the Garden State Parkway that had been reported stolen from Alloway Township, Salem County.

The vehicle fled from troopers on the Parkway's northbound lanes and the driver exited on to Chambers Bridge Road in Brick and continued southbound onto Hooper Avenue, crossing Brick Boulevard. At the intersection of Hooper Avenue and Mantoloking Road, Rein said, troopers called off the pursuit and announced to Brick officers a description of the vehicle that had fled.

A short time later, Rein said, Ptl. Anthony DeMaio observed the vehicle matching that description turn into the Vanada Woods development off Mantoloking Road. Officers responded to the area, and Ptl. Justin Delaney located the vehicle at the dead end of East Riverside Drive, at which time four people fled.

Delaney pursued the fleeing occupants of the vehicle and apprehended one as he attempted to hide under a separate vehicle on West Riverside Drive. The remaining three were apprehended by Brick Ptl. George Waldhelm and state troopers who arrived on scene.

All three were charged on juveniles complaints with resisting arrest, obstruction and possession of stolen property and turned over to the New Jersey State Police for further processing before being released to their parents or guardians.
