UPDATE: 94-Year-Old Brick Assault Victim Has Died; Granddaughter Is Suspect

A 94-year-old Brick grandmother who was an assault victim died overnight, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.

The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office has identified the suspect in the death of the woman, Mary Francis Driscol, as Katherine Schubert, 37, Driscol's granddaughter. Driscol had been assaulted in her home in the Lion's Head North community in Brick, on Courtshire Drive.

It will not be decided if any charges against Schubert will change until an autopsy is complete.

Schubert has been charged with aggravated assault. She was lodged this past week in the Ocean County Jail on $150,000 bail.

Patch reported earlier this week that Schubert was found in her grandmother's home by her mother, Michele Schubert, who is also the victim's daughter, and a friend after Michele Schubert had been unable to contact Driscol for two days last weekend.

When Michele Schubert went to her mother's home, she found her mother semi-conscious and lying on a bed, according to prosecutors. They found Katherine Schubert "highly intoxicated" in the home, according to Al Della Fave of the prosecutor's office.

Driscol was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with multiple injuries, including a brain bleed, blood shot eyes and multiple bruises and lacerations to the body, Della Fave said.
